VC1. SUMERIAN. A small cuneiform clay tablet from the Akkadian period, circa 2300-2200 BC. 28mmx28mm. One corner missing but otherwise intact with good clear lettering. Nice early piece. £58. VC2. EGYPTIAN. A small blue and white faience amulet in the form of a bust of Bes. Bes the dwarf,jester of the gods, protected people's homes and children. Ptolemaic period, circa 300 BC. 21mm tall. Detail a little weak but intact. £30. VC3. CARVED MESOPOTAMIAN BIRD BEAD. A well carved bead made of mother of pearl from a sea shell. Probably representing the crane, a migratery bird which would have been common in the near east. C 2000 BC. 16mm. Still wearable, nice style and complete. SCARCE. £65 |
